Dr. Dilip Kumar Behara

Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering at the JNTUA College of Engineering (Autonomous)

Dr. Dilip Kumar Behara, presently working as Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the JNTUA College of Engineering (Autonomous), Anantapuramu (AP) & Honorary Secretary of The Institution of Engineers(India), Anantapuram Local Center. He completed his B.Tech in 2002, M. Tech in 2004 and joined JNTUA College of Engineering Anantapur in the year 2006. During working period, he moved to IIT Kanpur for Ph.D program under AICTE-Quality Improvement Program (QIP) scheme. His Area of Specializations are Photo-electrochemical Water Splitting, Nanotechnology, Material Science and Solar Energy. He worked on metal oxide catalytic nanoparticles for solar energy harvesting for his doctoral program.

He has received AICTE-RPS project for an amount of 25 Lakhs in the year 2005, UGC & IEI R&D Projects in the year 2015 and DST-SERB Project for an amount of 32 Lakhs in the year 2018, DST-SERB project for an amount of Rs 36 Lakhs in the year 2024 and Two RUSA projects for an amount of 23 Lakhs in the year 2024. Further, he is Research Consultant to Kanopy Techno Solutions Ltd, C/o SIDBI Incubation center, IIT Kanpur and holding 3 major consultancy works for an amount of 12.3 lakhs. One of his PhD work titled “Photo-electrochemical Water Splitting Device” was granted with Indian Patent with patent number 342773 in the year 2015. Presently 2 Indian patents published and 3 design patents were filed.

He is recipient of PRIME-83 Innovation Award by IIT Kanpur in the year 2013; Gandhian Young Innovation Technological (GYIT) award by Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions, IIM Ahmedabad in the year 2014, Best Young Research Award by GRABS Society in the year 2017, and District Best NSS Program Officer Award for Anantapur District in the year 2018. Further, two of his works got best Paper presentation in International Conference organized by Osmania University, Hyderabad in the year 2020 and 2022. Recently he received AP State Best Teacher Award from Govt of AP on 11th Nov 2024 from Honble CM of AP.

Dr. Dilip has 35 peer-reviewed journal publications in reputed international journals, including ACS Energy & Fuels, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, ACS Sustainable Chemistry, Physical Chemistry & Chemical Physics, Chemical Engineering Science, AAPS PharmScitech, Journal of American Ceramic Society, Ceramics International, Advanced Functional Materials, Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering, International Journal of Energy Research etc. He also presented his work in 5 international conferences in USA and Singapore and more than 50 National & International conferences. He contributed to 6 book chapters with International Publishers in the area of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology.

He is Fellow of Institute of Engineers India (IEI) and Honorary Secretary, IEI Anantapur Local center. He is Life member of different professional bodies such as Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Society for Advancement of Electrochemical Sciences and Technology (SAEST), Indian Society for Electro Analytical Chemistry (ISEAC) & International Association of Engineers (IAENG). Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences (APAS), Amaravati elected as Associate Fellow in the year 2016. He serving as Coordinator for APECET-2025 and APECET-2024, state level entrance examination and was one of the core team members for APEAPCET-2022, and APEAPCET-2023 conducted by JNT University, Anantapur on behalf of APSCHE, Govt of AP.

He has served as Deputy Controller of Examinations at JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur since June 2015 to Feb 2022. Presently he is heading the Chemical Engineering Department of JNTUA CE Anantapur since Feb 2022 to till date.
